Locust Lane.  It seems like every town has one. It is also where the founders of Locust Lane Craft Brewery met and sparked their 25+ year friendship.

Since then, they’ve cheered, laughed, debated, and bonded while enjoying great beer made by the craft brewery community. Whether at a bar, picnic, sporting event, special event or hanging in their living rooms, great beer has always been a part of the experience.

While exploring careers in finance, medical sales and construction has occupied their time over the past twenty-five years, great beer has always remained their passion.

Combining their love of great beer, a strong friendship and an entrepreneurial itch has resulted in the creation of Locust Lane Craft Brewery.

With a focus on brewing simple, classic and fresh beers, Locust Lane Craft Brewery has been founded on:

Since opening in the Spring of 2017, Locust Lane has been fortunate to build a craft beer lovin’ team who know the power of a thank you and creating a welcoming environment in our Taproom and beyond.

We enjoy participating in the many wonderful community events and fundraisers that make the greater Malvern community a strong and vibrant place to live, work and especially play!

We hope you enjoy your time at Locust Lane and tell a friend… or two!  Cheers!

Our Team

Tom Arnold

Tom started brewing with micro-brew kits more than ten years ago.  He quickly acquired homebrew equipment that enables him to transition away from the "kits" to brew with fresh ingredients and begin crafting his own unique recipes. Tom's formal brewing education was completed through the American Brewers Guild, Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering (IBS&E)for Breweries in Planning.

Before starting Locust Lane Craft Brewery, Tom studied accounting at Penn State and spent nearly twenty years in the financial industry in Delaware, Bermuda and Radnor.

He lives in Malvern with his wife and son.

Jason Cartwright

Jason is nicknamed "Hoss" after a character from the 1960's TV show Bonanza (the family on the show was The Cartwrights). Even though he wasn't given the nickname until two decades after the show was canceled, somehow it's stuck!  He's been a salesman since the day he left Penn State.  He has sold wine, Lego (everyone's dream job), Information Technology (yeah, we're not sure what that is either!), soft drinks and medical devices.  He has a passion for beer and getting the Locust Lane "Founding Four" into the hands of beer lovers throughout the region.

He lives in Chester Springs with his wife.

Bryan Brockson

Do you have a friend who is always called by their last name and 80% of the people don't even know his/her first name? Well, that's "Brockson". He went to school for engineering, but you'd never know by talking to him.

In the twenty-five plus years since Penn State, he's managed construction projects, real estate assets and business development throughout the Brandywine Valley as well as been very active in the community with non-profits and business organizations including  Rotary, Penn State Brandywine, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, West Chester Area Education Foundation, Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce and Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry.

He lives in West Chester with his wife and two daughters.

Associations

As an independent craft brewery, it is important to stay at the forefront of education, technology, safety government affairs and more!  We are fortunate to be a part of two fantastic organizations to to pool the resources and knowledge of independent breweries to educate, organize and keep tabs on the many regulations and legislation that impact our industry on a State and National level.

Brewers Association

The Brewers Association is a national organization of brewers, for brewers and by brewers. More than 3,100 US brewery members and 46,000 members of the American Homebrewers Association are joined by members of the allied trade, beer distributors, individuals, other associate members and the Brewers Association staff to make up the Brewers Association.

Brewers of Pennsylvania; Brewers of PA

The Brewers of  PA is focused on education, managing the Pennsylvania Beer Trail and political advocacy within Pennsylvania.  BOP has been instrumental in the revisions to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board law changes that have enabled exponential brewery growth since 2015.

Chambers of Commerce

While we are focused on producing delicious beer, we believe ingraining ourselves into our community is equally important.  Part of this involvement is participating in the local chambers of commerce.  Partnering with chambers of commerce allow our team the opportunity to interact with the membership as well as get involved in their efforts to support, strengthen and growth our community.
